Emergency Response

When disasters strike, disaster response coordinators at EROS provide state, Federal, and international agencies with satellite images, aerial photos, elevation and land cover data, and other information necessary for a prompt and effective response. EROS researchers also develop unique data products that directly assist relief and recovery activities in specific areas. Since 2005, when the USGS joined the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters, EROS has greatly expanded its efforts to supply images and data critical for emergency responders, relief organizations, and disaster management teams worldwide.
