Human Health

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) participates in the Federal government's efforts to maintain the health of our planet and its human populations. In collaboration with public health communities, EROS scientists use satellite data and geospatial technologies to characterize landscapes where health threats are suspected or known to exist, and to model the susceptibility of populations to those risks. The primary focus for this research is controlling the spread of infectious diseases and monitoring concentrations of toxins in air and water.
