Volcanoes

Deformations-bulges and shape changes in land surfaces-on or around a volcano can indicate below-ground magma movement and a possible pending eruption. EROS scientists measure and monitor deformation in volcanoes using a variety of remote sensing tools. Research on volcano deformation can help reduce the negative impact of volcanic eruptions and improve the accuracy of eruption predictions.
