The Global Fiducials Program is a collaborative effort between Federal civilian agencies, academia, and the intelligence community to build and maintain a long-term record of data to support member scientists and policy makers. Since the 1990s, the Global Fiducials  Program has been periodically collecting images of selected environmentally important sites around the world. The Global Fiducials Library (GFL) is the long-term archive of those images collected by United States national imagery systems. The GFL was created to be the collection, archive and data management component of the Global Fiducials Program.
