USGS Establishes Landsat Science Team

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

USGS, in cooperation with NASA, established a new Landsat Science Team in late fiscal year 2012.  Twenty-one science and engineering teams will serve from 2012 to 2017 and provide technical and scientific input to the USGS and NASA on issues critical to the success of the Landsat program.  The Landsat Science Team members are recognized national and international leaders in land remote sensing.  As such, they will evaluate strategies for using Landsat to meet the needs of all Landsat users.  The team’s initial priority is to contribute to the evaluation of the new Landsat 8 imagery, and to provide scientific and technical insights into the integration of Landsat 8 with historical Landsat holdings.  The team will also address opportunities for new Landsat environmental datasets and requirements for future Landsats.
